Islamabad: Ministry of Housing and Works and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) on Friday (September 3) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for construction of low-cost houses under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), according to media reports.

The MoU was signed by Housing and Works Secretary Dr Imran Zeb Khan and the chief representative of CSCEC. As per the details shared by the ministry, it was mentioned that Pakistan seeks Chinese investment for the housing and construction sector for the mega projects, which will create employment opportunities in the country. In addition, it will boost economic development in the country.

Moreover, this initiative is said to cater to the essential aspects of community living along with the provision of a hygienically safe environment and supply of clean water. It was disclosed that the purpose of constructing low-cost NPHP houses is to develop affordable housing units and establishment of infrastructure including natural gas, sewerage system, water supply, provision of electricity, and roads.
