Islamabad: Under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, more specialised economic zones will be established throughout the country, according to a news report. The project titled Cluster Development Based Industrial Transformation Plan under Vision 2025 is expected to uplift the country’s manufacturing sector by way of targeted interventions.
So far, nine Specialised Economic Zones have been identified by the provinces which are bound to create new economic opportunities and boost industrial growth.
Various strategies are also being formulated to facilitate the growth of these zones. These include the Textile Policy 2014-2019 which is being implemented for boosting the textile sector. Another for enhancing export competitiveness of the commerce sector is also being formulated which is set to increase the number of products in the export-base. The Strategic Trade Policy Framework (STPF) 2015-2018 aims at increasing annual exports to PKR 35 billion by improving export competitiveness and increasing the volume and value of exports.
