Islamabad: A delegation of overseas Pakistanis donated USD 918,510 for the construction of dams in Pakistan, a news source reported. The delegation met Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.

The prime minister lauded the generous contribution of the Pakistanis residing abroad, saying they continued to provide support whenever needed.

The delegation, which had come from Dubai, presented a cheque worth USD 918,510 to Imran Khan for the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams’ fund.
An international fundraising campaign is already underway to get more overseas Pakistanis on-board the project. The ‘I am Pakistan Movement’ is a fundraiser programme which aims to mobilise overseas Pakistanis.
Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand are among several dams the government plans to construct in its bid to enhance water storage capacity and tackle other water-related issues. The other proposed projects are Nai Gaj Dam, Kurran Tangi Dam and Kurran Tangi Dam II, Naulong Dam, Winder Dam, Barra Dam, Akhnorri Dam, Shaivak Dam, Hangole Dam, Bhimbar Dam, Chanute Dam, Badinzai Dam, Tank Dam, Daklaigi Dam, Daraban Dam Saklaigi Dam, Dotarah Dam, and Kalabagh Dam.
