Peshawar: To ensure the timely completion of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has hired an additional 5,000 labourers, according to a news source. This brings the number of labourers engaged for the project to 45,000.
On the instructions of the provincial government, development work on the BRT is being carried out 24 hours a day. For removal of rubble at the construction site, leaves of the labourers engaged have also been cancelled.
BRT Phase III runs between Aman Chowk and Hayyatabad; from Aman Chowk onwards, the metro bus route is underground. Phase III comprises 14 metro stations, four underpasses, four U-turns, and three flyovers.
Reportedly, rubble from different parts of the project has been removed to allow a smooth flow of traffic and additional measures are being taken to manage traffic during rush hours.
