Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Environment and Wildlife Department has launched the monsoon tree planting campaign under the ‘Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Project’ across the province, according to news published on July 13.

As per the details, 37.564 million saplings will be planted under the monsoon tree planting campaign throughout the province. It was mentioned that all the arrangements have been completed for the campaign.
A Forest Department spokesperson (whose name was not disclosed) shared that 113.946 million plants were raised in various nurseries; out of which 37.564 million are suitable for plantation. For the plantation campaign, the forest department has selected 116 different types of species that will be planted depending on the climatic, geographical, and soil conditions of the region.

Moreover, the forest department has divided the province into three regions. According to details, 19.6 million trees will be planted in the Central South Region which includes newly merged tribal districts, while 8.927 million will be planted in the Northern Forest Region 2 Abbottabad which includes all districts of the Hazara Division. The third region is Malakand Forest Region 3 Swat, which will include all the districts of the Malakand Division and will have 9 million saplings planted.
