Shabqadar: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PCRS) Merged Areas Headquarters (HQ), and PRCS Mohmand Chapter, have launched a solar water supply scheme in Mohmand Village, a news source reported. This scheme was established under the Micro Mitigation Project (MMP) by both agencies and was made operational on Tuesday, earlier this week.

PRCS Merged Areas HQ Secretary Saeed Kamal Mehsood inaugurated the project at Shaheed Banda area of the Pandiali tehsil in the Lower Mohmand district. On the occasion, PRCS District Programme Officer Mohmand Irfan Ullah revealed that the cost of the MMP was PKR 600,000, and that the PRCS had contributed PKR 500,000 to the total cost. He added that the remaining PKR 100,000 had come from the Village Disaster Management Committee (VDMC).

Additionally, Irfan Ullah announced that that PRCS had also installed a water tank along with the solar-powered tube well. He said that this tank had a capacity of storing 1,400 gallons of water, and could meet the needs of over 10,000 people. This prompted some of the local residents to thank the PRCS for resolving the drinking water issue faced by the people of Shaheed Banda Village.
