Quetta: The military has handed over a model village in Mashkai District to the families who were displaced during the 2013 earthquake, a news source reported. The model village has all amenities – including an institute for learning, a market, as well as water and power supplies.
The mega project was built in six months. The locals showed complete satisfaction over efforts of the Army for ensuring peace, stability, and socioeconomic development in the area. Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa handed over the keys to the allottees.
On September 24, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake rattled the southern province, killing over 400 people and injuring many others. The quake cut mainland communications with Awaran and was so destructive that it caused a small island to emerge out of the Arabian Sea.
