Islamabad: A Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) is to be established by the government in Gwadar, according to a news report. This will cater to the increased customs revenues generated due to the running of Gwadar Port and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
It has been recommended by the FBR that this construction be done in phases, due to the current ban on residential facility construction. FBR is the sponsoring agency of this project, while the PWD will execute it. The PSDP allocation for this in the fiscal budget 2017-2018 was PKR 110mn. Currently, MCC offices are present in rented premises at the GDA. Land measuring 11.2 acres has been purchased for the construction of the MCC at Ankara Janubi, in close proximity to Gwadar Port.
