Islamabad: Federal Minister for Industry and Production Makhdoom Murtaza Mahmud stated that the country’s mobile phone manufacturing industry will flourish under the second phase of the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC), according to news published on January 24.

A summit was organised by the Engineering Development Board (EDB) and Pakistan Mobile Phone Manufacturing Association (PMPMA) titled ‘Mobile Device Manufacturing’. Federal Minister Mahmud, addressing the summit, stated that the country was going through a difficult time and it was the responsibility of the private sector, politicians, and stakeholders to work together for the betterment of the country.

He went on to say that by improving the mobile industry, the country’s need could be met through domestic production and exports will likely be increased. The news source mentioned that the federal minister highlighted the need for a long-term policy in this regard.
