Lahore: The Punjab Labour & Human Resource Department (PL&HRD) has announced its decision to develop a mobile application in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) in a bid to register small businesses across the province, a news source reported.

According to the details revealed, the decision was reached during a meeting of the board; presided over by PL&HRD Secretary Ahmed Javed Qazi. PITB Additional Director Saima Sheikh was also present at the session.
Expressing his views on the matter, Secretary Qazi stressed the need for introducing automation practices in provincial departments; further directing the officials concerned to develop the utility on a timely basis.
He added that the said application would the registration of shopkeepers and small traders. He further stated that the registered individuals would receive online certificates, which will be verified through QR codes by the labour officer concerned.

The PL&HRD official said that the department had introduced several initiatives pertaining to the automation of businesses in the province. He further informed that more than 70% of social security registered industrial and commercial outlets had submitted their contributions through online services during the going month.
