Peshawar: A mobile application ‘Zama KP’ was launched on Thursday (September 16) for online payment of provincial taxes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to news sources. The application was launched in a recently held ceremony with Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan as the chief guest. The residents of KP can use the e-portal to pay taxes through mobile phones.

As per the details shared, initially, the residents can even pay token tax on vehicles through this e-payment facility. In the next phase, the residents could pay all the taxes regarding property and vehicles through this facility. Additionally, the mobile application can be used to pay the fee of educational boards.
It is important to mention that the e-payment facility was launched by the excise, taxation, and narcotics control department. However, other departments can use the system for tax collection. Sharing more details about the e-portal, it was disclosed that the app was developed with the financial and technical assistance of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the sub-national governance programme.

According to CM Mahmood Khan, the application is a critical step towards e-governance. Not only will this app help people pay taxes, but it will increase revenue generation through tax collection. While speaking at the ceremony, the chief minister informed that several reforms were in the pipeline in the excise and taxation department. He went on to say that land records were also being digitised.
