During the session, the cabinet further discussed the work done so far on the ML-1 project, and also deliberated on several other topics, including the current political situation and the import of sugar and wheat. On the occasion, the cabinet made it mandatory for 61 food and non-food items to require certification.
The ML-1 is a major project under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative, and was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council earlier this month — with work on the estimated PKR 1.137 trillion venture having already been launched.
