Peshawar: The survey for the upgradation of 17,000 railway tracks under the ML-1 project has been completed, and the work will begin next year – a news source reported.

The authorities also plan on razing the houses and shops on the ML-1 route in Peshawar after signing an agreement with Chinese companies. The areas where buildings will be razed include Hasht Nagri Railway Phatak, Firdous Railway Phatak, Nowshera, Azakhel, Pabbi, and Shoba Bazar among others.
The survey and marking of shops in Hasht Nagri that are to be demolished has already been completed.
According to Railway sources, the agreement for the upgradation of ML-1 will be signed with Chinese companies soon, and the development work on Rashakai Economic Zone will also begin by the end of October.
The plans for ML-1 are currently being finalised, and the Ministry of Planning will submit the PC-1 for the first package of the Karachi-Peshawar Main Line (ML-1) project before the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) for approval later this month. The Railways Headquarters has also approved agreements with the 800 shops sealed in Hasht Nagri.
