Lahore: Punjab Housing Minister Asad Khokhar on Monday has instructed the management of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) operating in various cities to disconnect illegal water and sewerage connections, news sources reported.
Minister Khokar issued these directives while presiding over a meeting of the chairmen and delegates of the WASAs and Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) of all the province’s major cities. He encouraged the participants to develop strategies and solutions to address their revenue gap and focus more attention on meeting their goals. He also asked that the officials develop strategies to restore subsurface water resources and construct water treatment plants in order to save water.
Similarly, the minister stated that no defaulter would be spared under any circumstances and urged the authorities not to tolerate undue pressure in the implementation of policies. Moreover, PHA Lahore Director General Jawad Ahmad Qureshi briefed the meeting that the authority has distributed 90,000 samplings among Lahore citizens during the plantation drive. He also said that geotagging and remote sensing are being employed to monitor the urban plantation campaign.
