Lahore: The Minister for Housing & Urban Development Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed held a meeting with a World Bank (WB) delegation to share ongoing development progress pertaining to the Naya Pakistan Housing Project (NPHP), a news source reported.

The minister discussed matters of constructing low-cost housing units under NPHP with the members of the delegation. He informed the WB officials that the project’s implementation was underway in Punjab. He added that as per the project’s plans, the government aimed to construct 3- and 5-marla housing units.
Rasheed briefed the WB delegation that the government also had plans to establish high-rise buildings in major cities. He added that these included Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad. He stated that he would appreciate if the WB’s experts share their suggestions and extended technical support for constructing low-cost houses in the country.

The minister also informed the WB delegation regarding how the private sector was contributing to the construction of houses under the NPHP.
