Lahore: The Government of Punjab is looking to provide cheap power solutions to the residents of Lahore, for which the provincial Minister of Industries and Commerce Mian Islam Iqbal has invited plans from solar companies, a news source reported.

In a meeting held to review the options for private-public partnership in the solar sector, the minster stated that the Punjab government is keen on increasing the use of solar energy throughout the province. Minister Iqbal invited the companies to share their plans for the provision of solar power to the industrial estate. Representatives of private solar companies attended the meeting.

He also mentioned that small industries can also shift to solar power. The solar power companies expressed an interest in providing solar energy to schools and government offices. To which the minister said that these companies will get all the help they needed to promote the usage of solar power in Punjab.
