Karachi: Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has directed the provincial Excise and Taxation (E&T) department officials to formulate strategies for facilitating the recovery of professional tax in order to achieve the targets assigned for Financial Year 2019-20 – a news source reported.

Chawla gave the directions in a meeting held at his office. Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Secretary Abdul Haleem Shaikh, E&T Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officials concerned were all present at the occasion.
The minister also reprimanded the officials who had been unable to achieve the assigned targets. He added that the officers should make personal efforts on the matter.

DG Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that letters were sent to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the federal government, semi-government, and autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies having the registration of contractors of various categories and number of employees enrolled with them for bringing new units into professional tax net, but no response had been received yet.
