Rawalpindi: Punjab Provincial Minister for Housing Asad Khokhar on Wednesday (November 03) inaugurated Mayawaki forest in Allama Iqbal Park in Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, news sources reported. He said that the park is part of the 20 Mayawaki forest projects underway in Rawalpindi and that several other such projects will also be developed in various provincial districts.

As per the details, the minister said that the park will be a welcome environment-related development and would provide a healthy entertainment spot for citizens. He said that the forest is being developed to promote local and indigenous plant species that will provide food for the birds as well. Rawalpindi Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Director General (DG) Zaheer Anwar Jappa stated on the occasion that the forest will include 20,000 to 25,000 plants of diverse fruit and wood species.

He also told the minister about the authority’s efforts to beautify the city premises through a planting campaign. The initiative, according to the minister, is part of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s goal of a Clean and Green Pakistan and would have long-term effects on Pakistan’s ecology.
