Karachi: Minister of Sindh for Local Government Saeed Ghani has invited political parties, industrialists, traders and other stakeholders on Friday to help address the persistent garbage disposal, water and sewerage issues in the city, reported a news source.

The minister said that representatives from all major political parties have been invited to attend the meeting, as the Sindh government intends to solve the city’s problems and provide relief to the masses through mutual consent.

To help address to these problems, the minister has also given a 7-day deadline to the district municipal commissioners (DMCs) of all six districts. These commissioners have been ordered to submit a report before the minister in seven days. Minister Saeed specifically asked them to clean streets and storm drains before the start of monsoon rains.

Saeed also mentioned that if the DMCs are ready, the responsibility of lifting garbage could be shifted back from Sindh Solid Waste Management Board to them. This will be determined on the basis of their performance during the given 7-day deadline.
