Lahore: Punjab Minister of Communications and Works Chaudhry Ali Afzal Sahi has directed all concerned departments to complete road infrastructure development projects in the province on a priority basis, news sources reported on September 12.

According to reports, at a meeting presided over by the minister, it was revealed that the government has notified all relevant agencies to establish a timeframe for all existing and new development projects to be completed on time. In this regard, the government will audit the projects, and the contractors will be held responsible for the delays. The minister also urged the authorities to seize all contractors’ machinery and security deposits if the projects are not completed on schedule. On this occasion, the minister directed local governments to monitor and report on the development of the initiatives.

It is worth noting that the Punjab government has recently approved a number of road infrastructure projects totalling billions of rupees. The government has also established a new framework for grading and monitoring projects, including team inspections before the release of funds.
