Lahore: Punjab Minister for Housing & Urban Development Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed has directed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to speed up the development work on its housing scheme, LDA City, a news source reported. In January 2019, the Supreme Court (SC) had given LDA eight months to allot plots to the file holders in the scheme.

As this deadline approaches near, Rasheed has asked the civic body to develop a 330-kanal main park within the project immediately.
While chairing a meeting of the LDA City subcommittee, Rasheed ordered the LDA officials to complete international-standard landscaping at the site on a priority basis.
The LDA officials briefed the minister that they have already started the relevant development work, after consultation with the Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA). They added that spadework for main mosque on 16 kanals of land has been completed.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of the ongoing land acquisition process. Rasheed stressed that LDA should protect interest of land owners who provided their property directly for the project. He said that owners would receive 31% of the residential plots as replacement of their land, and LDA will receive half of the development charges from them.
