Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan ordered concerned authorities to complete land acquisition for Mingora Greater Water Supply Project, according to news sources.

CM Mahmood Khan presided over a review meeting for Swat district development projects. The Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Fazal Hakim, Member of National Assembly (MNA) Dr Haider Ali, the commissioner of Malakand, the deputy commissioner of Swat, and senior officials from provincial departments attended the meeting.
During the discussion, the chief minister instructed the Malakand commissioner to visit the project site with district administration, elected public representatives, and local government officials to develop credible solutions to resolve the landowners’ concerns. He added that addressing landowner reservations is a priority so that the project may begin as soon as possible.
Furthermore, he stated that the project is significant since it would address Mingora’s water scarcity issue. The project has been designed to meet the needs of the city for the next 25 years. To provide additional information, CM Mahmood Khan stated that the project would be completed with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP).

The Mingora Greater Water Supply Project comprises a cutting-edge Water Treatment Plant, as well as a 20-kilometer pipeline to deliver drinking water to Mingora and surrounding areas. Under this project, 85 % of the water would be supplied by gravity, with the remaining 15 % supplied by solar pumps.
