Multan: The government will conduct a survey in Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Rawalpindi, in a bid to bring mineral water companies into the tax net – a news source reported.

These companies will have to pay PKR 1 per bottle to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA). The government has decided to address WASA’s financial crisis.
Orders to this effect will be issued within a few days’ time. These directives, applicable in five major cities, will make it mandatory for the companies identified to pay taxes to WASA.

Presently, a number of international companies are involved in manufacturing mineral water. It is concerning to note that several unregistered companies are also benefitting from the business.
