Islamabad: The Metro Bus Service (MBS) is unlikely get operational on March 10, the expected completion date for the project, as the developers have not yet completed the basic structure. According to a news source, the design specifications for the bus stations are yet to be finalised.
A developer who wished to remain unnamed told reporters that the finishing work usually took more time than building the basic structure, adding that the specifications for bathroom facilities had not been finalised and elevators and lifts were yet to be installed.
A Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) official told reporters that it would not be possible for the bus drivers to pick up or drop off passengers while workers were still performing tasks on the sites. The official also said that none of the Metro Bus stations would be complete by the end of March.
The news source reported further that the new deadline of March 10 for the completion of the project had been finalised in a meeting on February 25.
