Islamabad: The National Highway Authority (NHA) is to complete the Metro Bus project from Peshawar Morr to New Islamabad International Airport by November this year, according to a news source. Service on this route will be initiated once the track is complete, while the NHA will require another three to four months to complete work on the bus stations.
The project is estimated to cost PKR 17 billion. Development work on different sections of the project is underway in different packages. Under Package I, the development work on the route between Peshawar Morr and National University of Science and Technology (NUST) has been 30% completed. For Package II, development work on the road connecting NUST with Golra Morr is 10% complete. On Package III, which includes the road track between GT Road to Motorway M-1 and M2, development work is 8% complete. The development work on Package IV, which connects Motorway M-1 and M-2 Link Road with Islamabad International Airport, is 50% complete.
According to NHA, 80% of the project has been completed and the Metro Bus will become functional by the end of November.
