Peshawar: Chief Minister KP, Pervez Khattak, has asked for more funds to be allocated for Metro Bus project in Peshawar, as well for road projects in the entire province, according to a news source.
Progress for projects allocated under Annual Development Programme for the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 was reviewed on 24th January 2018 in terms of the funds allocated, released, and the actual percentage of money utilised. The provincial finance department said that they had released PKR 208 billion for Fiscal Year 2017-2018, but only 34.8% of this fund could be used.
CM Pervez Khattak has asked for more funds to be used so that work could be completed on Metro Bus project. So far only PKR 752 million have been released, while the project is costing PKR 8 billion. Overall, PKR 828 million were allocated for transport alone by the government, whereas Annual Development Program allocated PKR 176 million. The Metro Bus Project has consumed about 97.2% of the funds, while some of it also went into completing Swat Expressway Project. It remains now to be seen how soon the KP government can complete this project.
