Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Saturday (March 19) held a two-day ‘Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar Mela’ in Faisalabad to provide a one-stop solution to create awareness about the subsidised housing financing scheme, according to news reports.

The SBP thanked the attendees for making the event a huge success. As per the details, more than 30,000 people have visited the low-cost housing festival. During the festival, banks had received total loans applications of PKR 18 billion and provided conditional approvals of PKR 7.4 billion. Moreover, the central bank announced that the performance of every participant bank was commendable; however, the following banks were noted for being remarkable:
- Meezan Bank for the most innovative stall
- Meezan bank for the highest number of applications received
- Nation Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Bank of Punjab (BOP) for giving the first conditional approval to a customer
- Allied Bank for the highest number of conditional approvals
- Bank Al Habib for the best quality of service as voted by the visitors

SBP Governor Dr Reza Baqir has asked Faisalabad’s business community to encourage their employees to avail house financing under the scheme. He suggested that the banks should organise focused programmes at the offices of major companies to provide Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar (MPMG) financing facilities to the employees.
