Peshawar: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Wednesday (August 11) was briefed on the progress of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s ‘Mega Road Infrastructure Projects’ including Peshawar-Dera Ismail (DI) Khan Motorway and Dir Motorway, according to news sources.

The meeting was held to review the progress made on the road projects so far, which included 365-kilometre-long Peshawar-Di Khan Motorway, 30-kilometre-long Dir Motorway, and other projects in the communication sector.
In the review meeting, the attendees were informed the PC-1 of Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway had been approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP). It was also reported that the project has been placed on the agenda of the upcoming Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting to include it in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) portfolio.
Furthermore, it was reported that the commercial and financial feasibility of the project was also approved for implementation under Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
While discussing the Dir Motorway project, the meeting was informed that the PC-1 of the project has been approved by CDWP. The work on commercial and financial feasibility is still in progress.

Moreover, the meeting also discussed the Swat Motorway Phase-II project. It was disclosed that the land acquisition process was in progress. The chief minister stated that these projects are important for the development of the province as these projects will promote trade activities and provide quality transport facilities to people. Therefore, all the projects must be timely completed, he instructed.
