The plaques of two mega projects, 6th Road Flyover and the Institute of Urology and Kidney Transplant, were unveiled by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The CM also inaugurated Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, which opened its outdoor patient department. However, the operation theatre and inpatient services will start functioning by the end of this year. The flyover is expected to be completed within 90 days with a cost of Rs 1.017 billion. The traffic plan is also prepared and for the next 120 days, all traffic signals on Benazir Bhutto Road, from Chandni Chowk to Stadium Road, will remain closed.
The other mega project, the Institute of Urology and Kidney Transplant, which is worth Rs 1.20 billion, will provide free of cost facilities to the patients. The Urology Institute, which is worth Rs 2 billion, will be built on 144 kanal of land near Shamsabad.
The foundation-laying functions and inauguration of the cardiology institute were attended by notable public figures. It was organized by the PML-N and was held in the lawns of the hospital. More than 1500 people attended the ceremony and urged the officials to work on more projects like these for the welfare of general public.
