A mega project of multi-purpose plaza at the site of Odeon Cinema is all set to launch. The construction work will be started in March this year and the authorities told the media that the work will be wrapped within a year.
The sources further revealed that feasibility report is already prepared. All the work related to designing of the project is also completed and the launching is also finalized. Few minor things are left to be discussed. The construction work is assured to be completed within the given time span.
The design revealed that eight-story building is a blend of business and shopping centres, entertainment packed with two multi-screen cinemas. The ground floor and the basement will be used for parking so as to avoid any issue of road-side public parking.
The total cost of project is estimated around Rs 1,530 million and the builder will be hired through tender floating in the print media. Several parties have already booked shops and showrooms so the token money is collected from the interested parties.
It can be bad news for Pakistani films lovers as another Pakistani cinema will be converted into a multi-purpose plaza to generate revenue. However, it is worth mentioning here that the Odean Cinema was closed down about 10 years ago due to Pakistan film industry slump.
The homework is completed to convert this abandoned cinema into a business centre that is expected to earn annual revenue of Rs 15 billion.
