Islamabad: A team from British Airways met with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood to finalise the details of the airline’s Pakistan operations, according to a news report.
British Airways is resuming its operations in Pakistan after a hiatus of 10 years. The airline is coming back due to the improved security situation in the country.
Dawood expressed his pride at the government’s success in creating investor confidence for Pakistan on the global stage once again. He added that the airline would also bring tourism back to the country.
To start things off, British Airways will resume its services from Islamabad International Airport on June 2, 2019. Three flights per week will initially be scheduled, using a three-class Boeing 787 Dreamliner. These airplanes are part of the airline’s newest long-haul fleet.
British Airways had put a halt on its services in Pakistan in September 2008, and its return marks an improvement in international confidence in the country’s security situation.
