Lahore: Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM) on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh recently chaired a meeting at the Finance Division to discuss the ways and means for enhancing foreign investment in Pakistan’s start-up sector – a news source reported.

Digital Pakistan Chief Tania Aidrus, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Dr Reza Baqir, Finance Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, and investors from Thrive Capital (a New York-based venture capital firm with more than USD 2 billion investment in assets under management) were all present at the occasion.
According to an official, this was a preliminary meeting and a follow-up meeting would be held soon. Participants at the next meeting would define investment measures to Thrive Capital officials, who are on the lookout for good ideas and projects in the IT sector.

The company plans on funding IT projects. The Finance Ministry and SBP will act as facilitator to bring in investment and remove hurdles, if any.
