Multan: The Multan Development Authority (MDA) on Tuesday served notices to 162 unapproved, local housing societies for irregularities in their procedural and documentation profiles – a news source reported. The city features a total of 214 unapproved residential colonies, however, the other 54 cannot be approved since they do not fall under MDA’s SOPs and MDA has warned people against buying plots in these.

Further, the MDA and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have prepared a joint strategy for dealing with these schemes.
These efforts come as a follow-up to the public’s complaints of facing issues when reselling plots in these constructions – in which case the plot owners concerned are required to accept a 30% deduction in their property sales prices, following which they have to allegedly spend months in getting their checks encashed.

To address this concern, the MDA has additionally launched a campaign to inform the public of the issues inherent in buying plots in these societies – along with urging them to only make purchases in approved developments.
