Karachi: The Malir Development Authority (MDA) has retrieved valuable commercial property in several sectors of Taiser Town Scheme 45 from land mafia, a news source reported. The land was recovered during an operation launched against encroachers on Thursday (Oct 17).

As per the details, the MDA retrieved a total of 55 acres of land, which is estimated to have a value of billions, in various parts of Scheme 45 including Taiser Town. Much of this land has commercial status as per the records of the development authority. Orders to launch the crackdown against encroachers came directly from MDA additional director general.

In Taiser Town, MDA retrieved commercial property in Sector 38, 40-A, 47 and B-42. During the operation, the MDA cleared land from illegal possession that was being used for an unapproved housing scheme. The authority deployed heavy machinery to raze steel structures, boundary walls, gates, and other illegal structures built on the land.

To avoid any resistance from the land mafia, the operation was carried out in the presence of the police.
