Multan: Multan Development Authority (MDA) Chairman Mian Jameel Ahmad, while chairing the 81st meeting of the authority’s Governing Body, recently approved the establishment of a new housing scheme in the city; along with the acquisition of 250 to 300 acres of land for the purpose — a newds source reported.

The housing scheme will be developed on the basis of a joint venture with a private company. Other points of agenda during the meeting included the approval of land acquisition for a mosque in the New Shah Shams Housing Scheme. In addition, new fines were approved for violations of MDA bylaws.
Moreover, while previously the full commercialisation fee had to paid for the commercialisation of a property, now the process will be approved after a 50% payment. The remaining half of the fee can be paid later after first providing a bank guarantee.

The meeting also approved the formation of a committee for the purpose of drafting MDA bylaws and regulations along the lines of those drafted by the Lahore Development Authority.
