Karachi: The Malir Development Authority (MDA) has started a grand anti-encroachment operation against illegal structures in Sector 47 of Taiser Town. The authorities released a press release on May 31 detailing the outcomes of the operation.

According to a press release, under the direction of Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Murad Ali Shah, the MDA has launched an anti-encroachment campaign against illegal construction and reclaimed public land. The operation was carried out in the presence of a large number of law enforcement officers and rangers. Heavy gear and equipment were also employed in the operation to demolish unlawful boundary walls erected on land without prior approval.

On the occasion, the director of Estate Anti-encroachment MDA and district commissioner (West) were present, as well as media representatives, to witness the progress. The media was told that land worth millions of rupees had been reclaimed from unlawful encroachment. The land was encroached upon by grabbers who built shanty homes.
Furthermore, the press release stated that the decision to act against encroachment was made during an important cabinet meeting headed by Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah and was attended by all significant members, including the chief secretary and senior brass of MDA.

The director also expressed gratitude to Sindh Provincial Minister Nasir Hussain Shah for his assistance in the operation.
