Lahore: The Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) announced its decision on Thursday to set up a state-of-the-art bus stand in the city, which is expected to generate revenue worth PKR 1.2 billion on an annual basis, according to a news source. To this effect, it recently invited proposals for developing the project on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis.

The Commissioner Lahore Office held meetings with infrastructure developers for this purpose and requested them to submit their proposals for the state-of-the-art bus stand at Lorry Adda. The companies will also submit financial proposals along with construction plans.

An MCL official revealed that the current bus stand at Lorry Adda generates PKR 900 million in revenue. Another official stated that if upgraded, the stand will generate over PKR 1.2 billion annually. He also clarified that once companies submit their proposals, the authorities will approve them before commencing with the work. The process will take several months to reach completion.
Currently, authorities are working on improving the drainage of the existing bus stand and on uplifting bus terminals.
