Lahore: According to a news source, the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) has notified its budget for FY2019-20; amounting to PKR 12.16 billion. This information was divulged in a budget meeting chaired by Commissioner Asif Bilal Lodhi.

During the session, Metropolitan Corporation Chief Officer Mahmood Masood Tammana briefed the attendees that – of the total figure stated – the development budget of the Metropolitan Corporation has been set at PKR 3.76 billion, while a sum of PKR 7.60 billion has been proposed for catering to non-developmental expenses.
The non-developmental expenses include an allocation of PKR 1.98 billion reserved for salaries, PKR 5.65 billion reserved for miscellaneous expenses, and PKR 52.31 million earmarked for PFC.
The corporation will arrange for a sum of PKR 5 billion from its own resources.

For the completion of its on-going development projects, a sum of PKR 16.22 million has been reserved; along with the inclusion of PKR 80.26 million from the Chief Minister’s Package. For the pension disbursement of retired MCL employees, a sum of 2.5 billion has been reserved, while PKR 5 million has been earmarked for sports and cultural activities. For the Chief Public Relations office, a reserve figure of PKR 20.3 million has been proposed as well.
While addressing the meeting, Lodhi said that all development expenses will be paid in accordance with local and provincial government policies. He stressed that the government’s austerity measures needed to be taken into account, and informed that there were no restrictions on the purchases of new machinery as long as this equipment was properly utilised.

Near the session’s conclusion, the commissioner asked for suggestions regarding the development of the General Bus Terminal at Badami Bagh.
