Lahore: The Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) has notified the owners and residents of dilapidated buildings, houses, plazas and shops to vacate the premises and demolish these structures in order to avoid causing life and asset loss, according to a publication the corporation shared on July 9 in newspapers.

As per the publication, the MCL has been notifying the owners/residents of buildings, old houses, plazas and other structures in dilapidated conditions from time to time to either repair these properties or vacate the premises to avoid any unfortunate incident during the monsoon season. Now the corporation has warned the owners once again to raze these structures – as they will be held responsible if any unfortunate incident occurs.

Furthermore, the MCL notification warns to not only demolish these buildings but also to register a First Incident Report (FIR) against the property owners under Section 64, Schedule 15 of the Punjab Local Government Act 2019. This is in addition to imposition of monetary penalty ranging between PKR 15,000 to PKR 50,000.
