Lahore: The Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL)’s survey conducted on dilapidated buildings in the city has revealed that 25 more structures in Lahore are in a deteriorating condition, a news source reported. With this, the count of dilapidated buildings in Lahore has reached 508.

The survey was ordered after various buildings collapsed during the monsoon season this year. Sources within MCL claim that the corporation had notified owners of all such properties to either repair their structures or vacate the buildings prior to the start of monsoon rains.
Lahore Commissioner Asif Bilal Lodhi has instructed the MCL to notify the owners of buildings in extremely bad conditions to immediately vacate the premises.

As per the survey findings, Lahore’s Aziz Bhatti Zone has 66 dilapidated buildings, Data Gunj Bakhsh Zone has 145, Samanabad Zone 94, and Gulberg has 24. Out of the 508 identified buildings in poor conditions, 45 are located in areas that fall under the jurisdiction of the Lahore Development Authority and the Town Municipal Authority.
