Islamabad: The Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) to execute its 100-days’ plan, according to a news report. This plan includes the renovation of 50 parks, beautification drive, and landscaping of various roundabouts, road carpeting and plantation of 300,000 trees.
The MCI will clean all 15 drains as well as put waste containers in markets, and improve markets in F-7 and F-10. It also plans to replace rusting water lines and switch streetlights to LED lighting. Speaking to media, Chief Metropolitan Officer Syed Najaf Iqbal said that the MCI hopes to get funding for streetlights and water lines from the government and private sector, whereas the remaining work will be carried out by available funds.
Apart from these, the MCI will also work on other projects which have been highlighted under the 2018-19 Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). According to Iqbal, the funding for these has been released and the MCI will try to get most of these done in the government’s first 100 days.
