Islamabad: The city administration is seeking inclusion of two members of the Metropolitan Corporation (MCI) in the commission revising the city’s master plan – a news source reported.
At a special session, presided over by Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz, the civic body adopted a resolution. Deputy Mayor Syed Zeeshan Naqvi called for the inclusion of two members in the committee.
The interior ministry had earlier this month notified the 12-member commission. It will give suggestions regarding the new master plan for the 2020-to-2040 period. However, the body has yet to convene its inaugural meeting.

The commission, headed by CDA Chairman Afzal Latif, will revise the city’s master plan within six months. Other members include experts such as town planners, architects, environmentalists, and civil engineers.
Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi previously announced plans to remodel the city. The initiative comes as part of the government’s agenda to stop mushroom growth in Islamabad.
