Islamabad: The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has decided to cancel the temporary permission granted to the businesses for using the open spaces in different markets in the city to counter encroachment, a news source reported on March 1.

The news source mentioned that the decision was taken by the MCI administration on the orders of the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA). As per the notification issued, all types of temporary permissions for generators, outdoor seating arrangements, car parking purposes, chillers, and more were cancelled effective immediately.

It was revealed that the DMA has requested the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Director General Enforcement to start the drive against encroachment across the city. This move of MCI has seen mixed reactions; some officials support this decision to clear public spaces while some expressed concerns related to financial losses for businesses.
