Islamabad: Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICC), according to a news report. In the meeting, he discussed the possibility of setting up a Metropolitan Commerce Unit (MCU) to improve economic development and planning for the city.
ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed, Senior Vice President Muhammad Naveed Malik, Vice President Nisar Mirza, and representatives of Police Research Institute of Market Economy (PRIME) were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the mayor stressed the need for a stronger local government to help resolve the problems of people and achieve sustainable growth. The mayor also appreciated ICCI’s proposal on MCU and asked that a paper of proposal be shared so that Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) could consider signing an MoU for its execution.
The ICCI President, in his welcome address, while speaking of the proposed MCU, stated that it would generate data and information on key sectors of the local economy. This will help MCI in planning and providing facilities to improve trade and investment in the city.
