Karachi: Mayor Wasim Akram on Thursday (July 9) directed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to meets its set revenue targets, according to a news source. He instructed the department to achieve this goal ‘at any cost’, along with preparing quarterly reports for review.

He warned that strict action would be initiated against department heads who failed to meet their revenue targets. To this end, he instructed the KMC to appoint competent officers to help achieve their goals. The mayor emphasized that work on this should begin as soon as possible, as it is the beginning of a new fiscal year.

The revenue targets for various departments are:
- MUCT: PKR 1,232.56 million
- Veterinary services: PKR 205 million
- Engineering department: PKR 81.5 million
- Medical and health services: PKR 72.5 million
- Parks and horticulture: PKR 37.9 million
- Enterprises and investment promotions: PKR 15.6 million
- Secretariat: PKR 1.185 million
Akhtar emphasized that all departments must work diligently to achieve these revenue targets. In addition, he stated that if funds for the KMC were released on a timely basis, many projects could be completed smoothly.
