Islamabad: The Traders Welfare Committee of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has passed a resolution calling upon Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz to order the immediate withdrawal of board tax notices issued to traders, according to a news source published on August 21.

The meeting was chaired by its convener Khalid Mahmood Chaudhry. The attendees also passed a resolution to call upon the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to construct multi-storey plazas in various Marakaz and markets and launch the required development work in these locales to save the business community from any further losses.

Furthermore, the meeting was also informed that the development work in the capital has remained stalled for over five years, while the collection of taxes has remained high. The meeting also expressed severe reservations about the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad’s (MCI) decisions to unilaterally increased the board tax – as stakeholders were not taken into confidence before taking this step.
