Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Monday said that the provincial government would update the master plan of 100 tehsil-level cities under the ‘Punjab Cities Programme’, which would be launched in collaboration with the World Bank (WB) – a news source reported. As per officials, work in 16 cities has already started under this project.

He made this announcement during a meeting held to review the proposals for the implementation of the ‘Punjab Municipal Services Programme’. The Secretary Local Government Department briefed the CM on this PKR 27 billion initiative; which aims to provide basis facilities to the people of the province.
The facilities planned under this project include the provision of clean drinking water and an improved sewerage system. Similarly, necessary machinery will be procured to improve cleanliness in various rural and urban settings, while non-functional sewerage systems will be restored.

Moreover, CM Buzdar approved a need-based recruitment process to fill vacant posts in local government departments on an urgent basis.
