Multan: Newly-appointed Commissioner Multan Javed Akhtar Mahmood has revealed that the city administration is developing a master plan to ensure the provision of potable water, proper sewerage infrastructure, and the repair and maintenance of road networks in the metropolis, according to a new source published on September 10.

The commissioner said that the officials from the Planning and Development Department and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) have been directed to timely develop the master plan for the provincial government’s approval.
Reportedly, Mahmood has a deep-rooted association with the city and is at a grassroot-level with the issues faced by its residents. He assured of prioritising adequate resources to resolve these persistent civic issues hand-in-hand with the city’s administration.

Moreover, he revealed that a team has been constituted to survey the city’s out-of-order water filtration plants and sewerage issues. Once the survey report is in, systematic steps will be taken to restore the water filtration plants in the first phase, he said and added that he intends to visit the Walled City Project – which is undergoing development work – and aims to preserve the centuries’ old heritage and culture.
