On Thursday, Basharat presided over a review meeting for the preparation of a new Master Plan aimed at land-use in Punjab’s tehsils. He said that the importance of town planning at tehsil level was now more important given the rapid growing population in province’s major cities.
Instead of districts, the minister added, tehsils were going to be of increased significance due to the new local bodies system. He directed the departments concerned that a land-use Master Plan for tehsils should reach completion before the local bodies’ elections in 2020.
