Lahore: For the formation of a well-conceived Lahore Master Plan for the next 20 years, suggestions and proposals are being invited from Water and Sanitation Authority, Lahore Waste Management Company, utility service providers and real estate developers and builders, a news source quote Lahore Development Authority Director General Amna Khan.
Khan shared the information while addressing a meeting held to discuss how the master plan can effectively meet the future needs of Lahore. The master plan will give a road map for development projects planned for the city for the next 20 years. She also said that public suggestions and proposals for the master plan are also welcomed.
Talking about the challenges faced to make an apt master plan, Khan said that Lahore’s population is growing at 3.4% annually, which is also causing the city to expand. In order to meet the challenges of this constant expansion and help Lahore meet its future needs, updating the master plan is important.
She also said that due to lack of coordination between various departments, desired results weren’t being achieved. While the problems regarding traffic jams, provision of drinking, environment pollution, housing shortfall and availability of civic and health facilities cannot be fixed in the absence of a proper plan, she added.
Present in the meeting, WASA Managing Director Syed Zahid Uzair, LDA Urban Planner Shakeel Anjum Minhas and LDA Chief Town Planner Syed Nadeem Akhtar Zaidi also shared their proposals regarding Lahore Master Plan 2040.
